The Animal In Us

Im sure you have heard that we originated from the monkey species. We just lost the fur and the tail fell off. Yet, not many go beyond that notion to really understand this evolution that had taken place. We see similarities of monkeys in us yet we forget that we still hold an animal part of us within.

In the Hindu philosophy, each human being has 7 energy points called “Chakras”.  3 below the heart and 3 above the Heart. Heart being our center. According to this tradition, the first 3 below are considered our animal chakras : The first which is based on survival, the second which is based on sex and the third which is based on acquisition of power.

Scientist have also proven that there are different parts of the brain and one of which is called  “Reptilian”. Our reptilian brain is considered to be the oldest part which controls the body’s vital function like heart rate, breathing, body temperature and balance.

Ido Portal is a movement culture which was founded by Ido to embrace the animal memory of movement within us. The video below shows how different movements which are similar to those of animals are being expressed by humans. Not only is it fascinating to watch, it is also a great way to build body awareness and strength.

Ido shares in the video why movement should be explored. It helps to understand where we came from plus it allows us to discover the innate possibilities within our bodies. Why move? Well, he said because we can move and we should just appreciate this opportunity and play with it.

When did you last move in a strange way? It could have been this morning's cat stretch as your work up out of bed.
